JAZZ

Paul Bourgeois, Sept. 30, 2016

birdland was a tiny place

when parker walked in

and asked to jam

but it was like poetry

no one could listen to

exercises in rhythm hit

the arpeggios within the root

note

fast futility leading

predictably

back to the beginning

and once they heard

even ornette coleman

was making chaos predictable
