the man in saffron

robes smiled and bowed

to the god inside me

he bypassed face and snot caked beard

hairy chest and muscled arms

and sex

and breasts and penis

the emperor is naked he said

and must subject himself to the tyranny

of the homeless and dispossessed

who struggle for food

and fight police for space

to breath and play

games with alcoholic dads

to keep their flesh

my flesh squirmed

and said

i am not you

i am i

said the man in sunrise saffron robes
